WYRD - Revision 4 Released

Hello!

After many months I've returned with a new playtest version. A lot has changed with WYRD that I believe make it stand out as a very fun and replay friendly game.

Major Changes

  • Player now controls one character instead of an entire party (this cuts back on the size issues of grid movement)
  • The grid is now hexagonal instead of square
  • Movement is now in all directions
  • Wyrd stones have been added and can be used by adding dice to 7 or higher
  • Added a d66 (36 total items) table of rewards and weapon/armour/gear upgrades for the player to find
  • Added rules for bosses, which are challenging maps with unique rules
  • All locations for combat are now visually mapped for the player to reference

What Else is New?

  • Updated starting equipment and rules for randomly assigning upon character creation
  • Added Fate, which can be used once to re-roll a single die
  • Updated art across the project and revamped the layout
  • Maps now use only Obstacles and Difficult Terrain
  • Updated rules for experience gains and usage to make player progress more enjoyable
  • Added Successes for tracking the progress of the player and to lead them towards the end (boss fights)
  • All dice values now use a dice font for easier referencing (I might have missed a few!)
  • Revamped how experience is gained for the player
  • Added 18 more Discoveries that modify the combat encounters for the player
  • Adjusted some of the enemies to be weaker and more balanced towards a single player character
  • General rules updates and spelling corrections across the game

This will be the last major update for WYRD before the final version is released. What you see in this version is representative of the final copy, just missing some lore, more bosses, and a finale.

As always, enjoy!
